ICBA thanked President Donald Trump for issuing an executive order freezing new rulemakings.
Details: The executive order creates three directives for agencies:
Do not propose new rules.
Withdraw rules that have yet to be published in the Federal Register.
Consider postponing by 60 days any rules that are not yet effective.
ICBA View: In a national news release, ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey said pausing new regulations will provide the administration time to recalibrate the regulatory environment.
Statement: “We look forward to working closely with the new Trump administration and 119th Congress to address excessive regulatory burdens and implement needed reforms to federal banking policy to help community banks meet the needs of local communities,” Romero Rainey said.
